2.5" SATA SSD
The drop-in replacement for a 2.5″ mechanical hard drive — the same 100 × 69.85 mm footprint and the same 7 + 15 pin connectors, so a machine already holding a spinning disk takes this without an adapter. The point is not speed; it is that the drive fits, costs less, and is still in production.
Will it fit your board?
Three questions, each under a minute. Any one of them can rule this drive out — better to find that out here than after the goods ship.
1 Is your bay a 2.5″ SATA bay, or U.2 / SAS?
2 What temperature does the installation see?
3 What kind of writes will the drive see?
Continuous recording and backup targets are the one case where the SATA ceiling is actually felt — sustained writes stay near the rated figure instead of bursting. Tell us the write rate you need and we will confirm what this series holds; if it is not enough, the NVMe series is the honest answer.
Databases, logs and operating systems write in small scattered blocks. SATA handles that pattern comfortably — it is sustained sequential writing, not random writing, that hits the interface ceiling. This series is the right fit.
Boot drives, firmware storage and signage players read far more than they write. This is the workload this drive was built for — and the machines that use it usually only offer a SATA-channel slot in the first place.
A 2.5″ U.2 or SAS drive is the same size and will not fit this bay. The shape is identical; the connector is not. Check that the bay has the two-part SATA connector — a short 7-pin block beside a longer 15-pin block.
SATA III — up to 550 MB/s
550 MB/s sequential read, 500 MB/s sequential write — the practical ceiling of the SATA III interface, and the same figure every 2.5″ SATA drive reaches. This is not a performance part: it exists because laptops, desktops, NVRs and industrial PCs still have a 2.5″ bay, and a drive that occupies it without an adapter is worth more than one that is faster on paper.
Tell us the machine or board model with the enquiry and we will confirm the channel and the standoff before you order.
Every SATA III part on this ladder — 2.5″, M.2 SATA and mSATA — moves data at the same 450–550 MB/s, because the protocol is the limit, not the shape. If the board has a PCIe M.2 slot instead, the NVMe series is several times faster. See the NVMe series

Common Questions About 2.5″ SATA SSDs
Answers to the questions that come up most often before an order. Don’t see yours? Ask us — a datasheet and quote follow within 24 hours.
Will a 2.5" SATA SSD replace my mechanical hard drive?
Yes, directly. It uses the same 100 × 69.85 mm case, the same 7 + 15 pin connectors and the same mounting holes, so it goes into a bay that already holds a spinning disk — no adapter, no bracket, no reconfiguration. The operating system sees it as an ordinary SATA drive.
How do I tell a SATA bay from U.2 or SAS?
By the connector. A SATA bay has two separate blocks — a short 7-pin data block beside a longer 15-pin power block. U.2 and SAS use a single connector of a different shape and are not compatible in either direction. If yours looks like one solid block, this series is not the part for that machine.
Do I need a bracket or an adapter?
No. The drive is the standard 7 mm height in the standard 100 × 69.85 mm footprint, so it mounts on the same rails or caddy the mechanical drive used. If the bay previously held a 9.5 mm drive, it still fits — only a thicker drive would not.
Is 550 MB/s enough, and why not NVMe?
SATA III tops out at 600 MB/s by protocol, so every 2.5" SATA drive stops around 550 — ours and everyone else’s. It is plenty for boot volumes, NVR recording, POS terminals and general replacement. Where the machine has a PCIe M.2 slot and the workload is throughput-bound, the NVMe series is several times faster.
Which capacities and heights do you offer?
128 GB to 4 TB in the standard 7 mm height, with a wide-temperature build rated −40 to +85 °C available. Tell us the capacity and the operating environment and we will confirm availability and lead time.
Can you do OEM — our logo and our packaging?
Yes. Silkscreen on the label, your own branded box and firmware strings are all settable before the first unit is built. MOQ is 50 pcs for a branded run.
